Tips for Searching Databases
Always switch to the Advance Search page in a database. This will give you more control over your results. Always use quotes around a phrase. The system searches the phrase as one word. Example: "obsessive compulsive disorder" Use Boolean Operators-AND, OR, NOT when running a search to help narrow and broaden a search. AND narrows your search.Example: prozac AND treatment OR broadens your search. Example: bulimia OR "eating disorders" NOT eliminates search results. Example: "Anorexia Nervosa" NOT bulimia Always check your Spelling if the database results are Zero. "Check Availabilty" link to see if articles are full-text Use Journal Finder: to find journal, magazine and newspaper full-texts articles online, in print or available on microfilm. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Locating Web Sources
